Plein Air Paint Out at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park

by Big Cedar Lodge 8. October 2012 16:33
Calling all artists and art lovers! Big Cedar Lodge, America’s premier wilderness resort, is hosting a week-long paradise for art enthusiasts from around the country. The Third Annual Plein Air Paint Out will consist of an instructional 3-day workshop led by award winning artist John Bucidin, and an art competition where artists are given two and a half days to capture on canvas the natural beauty of Big Cedar Lodge and Dogwood Canyon Nature Park.

Many of our readers are familiar with the beautiful scenery around the Big Cedar property, but Dogwood Canyon offers pristine landscapes with cascading waterfalls, crystal clear trout streams, and untouched natural wilderness.

En Plein Air, which means “in the open air,” is used as a way to describe the act of painting outdoors. Artists set up easels and quickly transcribe the landscapes in front of them to shapes on the canvas.

Over 100 artists will take part in the event; culminating in an awards ceremony and art sale. For more information, contact our Reservation Office at 1-800-BC-LODGE (1-800-225-6343).

This year’s sponsors include SourceTek, Judson Art Outfitters, SunEden Artist Gear, Plein Air Magazine, Gamblin Artist Gear, Dick Blick, and National Art Shop.
